Bali has always been one of the most favoured exotic destinations for a holiday among endless holidaymakers and travellers. Bali leaves no stone unturned in bringing to you the best of entertainment, activities, luxury holiday villas, sun-kissed beaches, the ever-smiling locals and of course – shopping is no exception. Even though shopping may not be your primary goal, but it’s definitely one of the priorities, which goes without saying – especially, for the ladies because Christmas is just around the corner and everything is so colourful, energetic and tempting, you won’t be able to resist!
Right from premium luxury designer boutiques to some street shopping for apparels, handicrafts, jewellery, leather, paintings and so much more – you name it, they definitely have it. If you’re a Shopaholic consider yourself in big trouble because you just won’t stop even if you shop till you drop! Not that we’re saying it’s a problem, but sometimes it’s okay to just give in to these insatiable desires and own that pair of Gucci shoes or an exclusive designer handbag from Bali. I think we just heard a “Hell yeah!”.
Now that you’ve got your Christmas groove on, knowing where to shop, what to expect, how much to pay and the best deals around is important and wise, but don’t worry we’ve got it all covered for you! Seminyak is like the island’s New York City which brings to you a blend of premium luxury designer labels as well as local knick-knacks and flea markets that are friendly on the pocket, oozing of great boutiques and shops to buy whatever you like.
Where to shop in Seminyak?
Biasa Bali is an exclusive designer store founded by Susanna Perini way back in 1994 and it has been a massive success ever since. Her designs showcase a stylish and contemporary clothing line for men and women as well as accessories. The chic boutique is made up of two levels with the women’s section downstairs, while the upper-level stocks the men’s range.
For all jewellery lovers, the Tulola Jewellery store should definitely be on your checklist. It is located across the road from Cubana Bar & Grill. They specialise in unconventional and rare, intricate designs of necklaces, pendants, rings and brooches embellished with precious stones. They make great gifts!
Kody & Ko
Kody & Ko is a superb art store that features colourful and contemporary home décor items, paintings and art pieces that are quite rare to find if you have an eye for something unusual. It’s a small boutique which you won’t miss because of the extraordinary items they have on the storefront. It is located on a side street off Jalan Kayu Aya, very close to Seminyak Square.
Drifter Surf Shop
The Drifter Surf Shop is a cool store to purchase surf gear. The store has a different concept of the gear section and a coffee shop and bar to hang out. They offer a vast collection of funky and colourful boards in different shapes and sizes, apparel and gear. Consider it a paradise for surf junkies!
We’ve all imagined ourselves doing a Halle Berry shot from Die Another Day, walking out of the water looking irresistibly gorgeous in that perfect bikini – well, look no further than Thaikila on Jalan Laksamana that presents a sexy line of bikinis and beachwear made of high-quality fabrics. You will be swept away with a variety of designs and colours, you’ll end up buying more than one for sure!
Seminyak Square is a large arcade where you will find everything right from restaurants, diners, stores, open air stalls over two levels. Casa Gourmet and Bali Bakery are two famous eateries that offer excellent food. You will find several stalls selling typical Bali items which are great to buy souvenirs and gifts to take back home and you can haggle to get a good deal here! The arcade looks exciting, colourful and packed during the Christmas season, so it’s better to get there early to avoid all the rush.
Bali Boat Shed
